193 - Metal sorts

METAL SORTS, part of the printing equipment. In traditional hand printing, the compositor selects the metal sorts, forms the lines in a composing stick and then places the lines in another metal frame, called type galley. Typesetting each shΕΕΤ was a time consuming and tedious process. Fonts and sizes varied depending on the use and place of the words within the text.
