144 - Trough

OBLONG WOODEN DISH used to shape sourdough for bread. Troughs were manufactured in two ways: the locals either carved tree trunks to form a concave surface inside or put together four thick boards on a wooden base, whose sides were inclined outwards. Apart from shaping and flattening dough, these troughs were often used for washing the clothes of the family.
