146 - Iron

UTENSIL used for ironing. Its shape is similar to modern irons, but in the past, the metal plate at the bottom was heated with charcoal: housewives used to put the charcoal inside from a metal cap with a wooden handle on top. These irons were used until the late 1960s, when they were gradually replaced by electric irons.
