021 - Kerosene lamp
ILLUMINATING VESSEL with kerosene, which gradually replaced oil lamps. It consists of a small cylindrical glass vessel, with a narrow opening at the top, through which fuel was channeled inside. There was a metal mechanism to push the wick in- side the mouth: its length was determined by rotating a screw. A transparent glass was placed at the top of the mouth, allowing light and smoke to come out, as well as protecting the flame from the air. A plate was applied at the bottom of the container, which extended upwards in order to transfer and mount the lamp. It belonged to the grandmother of the donor, Triantafylli Michalakakou.
