158 - Honeycomb Removal Tool

TOOL FOR REMOVING HONEYCOMBS. This is an industrial product, manufactured in America and used by the grandfather of the donor. Beekepers used it on “kouvelia”, in order to remove honey- combs. “Kouveli” was the name of the oldest type of beehive, which was knitted from rod or pieces of tree bark. Its shape was conical and its outer surface coated with “voulithia”, a mixture of mud and manure, which kept the “kouveli” waterproof and unaffected by weather conditions.
