Α29 - Glasswork Objects – OXYAL Greek Chemical Fertilizer Company SA

These three workshops were active during the same period, from the mid 1920s until the late 1950s. Keramikos SA was established in 1909 and was very active in the field of industrial production, while also expanding in the field of handmade artistic ceramics. The head of the project was the artist Panos Valsamakis, who studied in Paris, and its workforce was gradually enriched with the arrival of experienced potters from Asia Minor in 1922. Two other remarkable workshops operating at the same period with the same mindset and references, were Kütahya, which was established at Neo Faliro in 1922 and staffed with Greek ceramists from Asia Minor, and Ikaros, which was established in 1929 in Rhodes island and made ceramic works inspired by the rich tradition of Rhodes.

Among the objects of the private collection of Damilakos, there is a series of akrokerama, a trademark of the neoclassical style  that was adopted in the architecture of buildings in the late 19th century.
