109 - Sieve

UTENSIL that consists of a wire mesh, properly mounted on a thin wooden circle. After grinding wheat in a hand mill, housewives gathered the flour and then sifted it: they moved it rhythmically, so that the flour would pass through within the sieve clean of bran and ready for kneading.
